I have spent 20 years exploring consciousness. In my search for balance in the face of huge adversity, I tried all kinds of things, until I found what, for me, is THE most effective way to transform what defeats you, into something that no longer speaks to you or rules you at all. This, I think, is true freedom, based on free will and choice. iRest is a form of meditation that supersedes other more conventional ways of healing. It allows everything to fall into place minus the misery...
I have been working with athletes, seniors and injured persons to improve how they function in private practice since 1994. I began as a Nationally Certified Massage Therapist with over 1460 hours of training. The unfolding of the relationship between the embodied self and consciousness led me to complete a four-year training with the FELDENKRAIS Guild of North America.
I grew up in the German part of Switzerland after my mother moved back there when I was ten. I am an athlete, an avid rider of horses, I love the sport of combined training, which involves three separate phases much like a triathalon on horseback. I have been working with horses to improve their functional mobility since 1994.
I am a survivor of domestic violence, severe alcoholism and addiction. Out of the recovery process from that, I have become a seeker of self-improvement, spiritual connection, and wisdom. I am fiercely independent and have turned a sizable corner in my life several times.
I am a level II iRest instructor currently preparing a series of on-line resources for teaching iRest as a vehicle for letting go of life's most difficult challenges, with the additional benefit of adding FELDENKRAIS AWARENESS THROUGH MOVEMENT lessons, which provide direct resources for diminishing excessive hypervigilence patterns, and regaining a positive relationship with the physical body after a history of trauma. I am also working on a non-profit project in memoriam to my daughter that will provide funding for on-going iRest and FELDENKRAIS classes in treatment centers on-site in conjunction with existing programs.
In Nevada and Yuba Co. California, I have taught iRest within the Sierra College Continuing Education Program for several years, at Wild Mt. Yoga Center in Nevada City for over five years, have certified with the local domestic violence program to work with women healing from that assault to the self, and have worked over the course of four years primarily with Viet Nam era veterans to teach them the coping skills provided by iRest that are so powerful in the alleviation of the symptoms of P.T.S.D.
p.s. I will be in Switzerland from Oct. 20 to Nov. 21, 2011, but feel free to email me!
