iRest and Active Duty Military

I teach iRest at Camp Lejuene Marines Corps, North Carolina. I am a volunteer teaching iRest as part of Lejeuene Naval Hospital's mental health department's "Back on Track" program. Back on Track is a two-week long program for Marines and sailors that have returned from Iraq and/or Afghanistan with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD.) The program participants are introduced to different methods in which they learn to cope with PTSD. http://www.jdnews.com/articles/class-66146-bodycopyrag-yoga.html

My husband, Eric, is a medically retired, disabled U.S. Marine with both PTSD and Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI.) Eric's condition is what initially led to my interest in iRest. I am also a yoga instructor, and recently completed "Yoga Warriors" training which integrates sensory processing techniques into the practice of asana www.yogawarriors.com.

I am very much looking forward to incorporating both iRest and Yoga Warriors into my work with the Marines and sailors at Lejeune. The feedback from both the program participants and facilitators has been very positive. There is no greater joy than to see these men and women are able to relax, let go and sleep during their practice of iRest.
