Meditation doesn’t involve transcending your humanness. It entails recognizing and living from your essential nature, which is already and always unbounded, whole, loving, compassionate, awake, and perfect just as it is, in the midst of the circumstances of your life. True meditation enables you to recover and experience your innate sense of wellbeing, and supports you in welcoming and responding, rather than reacting, to every moment and situation of your life.

This monthly meditations are designed to support you by:

  1. Fostering concentration, enabling you to recognize your innate nature of wellbeing;
  2. Nourishing proactive mindfulness and your capacity to be respond to each moment and situation of life; and
  3. Developing self-inquiry, which fosters curiosity and openness, dissolves separation and awakens your intrinsic capacity for being loving, kind, peaceful, joyful and discriminatively insightful.

Richard Miller, PhD is founding president of the Integrative Restoration Institute, and author of Yoga Nidra: A Meditative Practice for Deep Relaxation and Healing. He leads spiritual retreats and trainings internationally. www.irest.us.

*Please Support the Teachings in Moving Forward
Dana (Pali - generosity) reflects the interdependence between those who offer teachings and those who receive them and is a central pillar of spiritual life. And while teachings, which are considered priceless, are given freely, support from students is needed. In the act of giving we develop our ability to let go, cultivate the spirit of caring, and acknowledge our inter-connectedness. It is the practice of dana, where committed supporters give generously, that keeps the spiritual teachings moving from one generation to the next.

Richard Miller presents at the 2014 Nondual Wisdom Conference at the California Institute of Integral Studies (CIIS) (San Francisco, CA)

The 2014 Nondual Wisdom Conference theme is:
Shadow & Ground: Light, Darkness and That Which Holds Them Both.

Conference Dates: March 28-30, 2014
Location: California Institute of Integral Studies (CIIS),
1453 Mission Street, Namaste Hall
San Francisco, CA 94103
415-575-6175

Registration and further details are available at the CIIS Nondual Wisdom Conference Webpage.

About the Conference
Nonduality derives from the Sanskrit word Advaita, which means "not-two," referring to the fundamental consciousness that underlies the apparent distinction between perceiver and perceived. From the nondual perspective, the split between self and other is a purely mental construct. This understanding, rooted in the direct experience of countless sages through millennia, is at the heart of Hindu Vedanta, Judaism, Islam, and many schools of Buddhism, Taoism, and mystical Christianity. Nonduality points to "That" which is before and beyond the projections of a seperative, self-reflexive mind. As nondual awareness emerges in the West in both therapists and clients, the practical and theoretical implications for psychotherapy are far-reaching.

This annual cutting edge conference hosts leading therapists and teachers who are exploring the confluence of nondual wisdom and psychotherapy. How does psychotherapy change when therapists and clients awaken to and embody their true nature as open, lucid awareness that is essentially not separate from the whole of life? The theme of this year's conference is light, darkness, and That which holds them both. Together we will explore skillfully working with psychological shadow material as a way of deepening our experience of the Ground of Being.

Who can Attend?
Anyone is welcome to attend. While the conference presentations are geared towards the theory and practice of psychotherapy and are available to be taken for continuing education units, they are accessible to the interested public. Many graduate students and psychology interns attend along with licensed psychotherapists. Clergy, bodyworkers, and students of nondual teachings will also find the presentations of special interest.

Richard Miller will present: The skillful Use of Nondual Opposites in Psychotherapy

Learn to work with naturally arising opposites of sensation, emotion, and cognition during the psychotherapeutic hour within the framework of nondual awareness to dissolve fixations within the body and mind and open insight.
Learn:
• Skillfully utilize opposites with clients and yourself to support healing.
• How opposites conceal, as well as reveal your ground of nondual wholeness.
• Utilize continuums of opposite of sensation, emotion, and cognition.
• The latest findings of neuroscience and opposites.
• Interventions with opposites that undo negative patterns, and pave the way for insight and the embodiment of healing and awakening to nondual wholeness.

Registration and further details are available at the CIIS Nondual Wisdom Conference Webpage.

True meditation entails awakening to and living your enlightened nature in the midst of everyday life. Join Richard Miller as he shares the ancient yogic map of nondual meditation that underlies all approaches of meditation. His presentation interweaves experiential periods of BodySensing asana, BreathSensing Pranayama and guided meditation with discussion integrating the mindful teachings of Samkhya-Patanjali, Advaita, Kashmir Tantra, Yoga Nidra, and Buddhism. This workshop will expose you to a tapestry of tools that can be interwoven into your daily life and teachings. All Levels Welcome.

Dare to Be: The Simplicity of Meditation (7:00 PM - 9:00 PM)
"Give yourself to the one who already owns your breath and moments." —Rumi

Meditation invites you to step through the door of your known and awaken to the unexpected: to joy, wonder, astonishment, and your authentic aliveness. Join Richard as he shares the nondual teachings of awakening through gentle BodySensing movement and guided yoga nidra meditation that reveal and celebrate the mystery of being, and being in the world.

Here concepts and practices like body, mind, emotions, nondual, true nature, awareness, and self-inquiry are recognized as distractions that take you away, or serve as direct pointers to reveal “This,” which is simple, beautiful, still and always undisturbed; neither coming nor going, ever-present, yet usually ignored because of its simplicity.

Come end your search by giving yourself completely to “This” that “already owns your breath and moments.” So simple. Not difficult. So necessary. All Levels Welcome.
